Squier Affinity Telecaster Butterscotch Blonde with Matte Black Pickguard

I recently picked up a used Squier by Fender Affinity Telecaster, Butterscotch Blonde guitar.

The previous owner had replaced the standard gloss black pickgaurd with a tortoise shell pickgaurd.

It looked okay, but I wanted to replace it with a black “stock” pickgaurd.

I spent more time than I care to admit researching which pick guards fit the squire affinity telecaster and then I got hung up on whether I wanted a stock gloss black or a matte black finish.

A quick google search failed to show what the matte black setup looked like.

I went ahead and purchased both pickgaurds.

I preferred the matte black, but it’s really close.

It matches the fingerboard inlays and the bridge pickup finish well.

Given the lack of photos on the internet with this setup, I’m sharing here just in case someone else is curious!

I picked the Matte Black pickup for the fender affinity tele from Amazon here.

This pickguard does fit the Affinity Tele. Two of the screw holes are a bit off. A bit. It will not require redrilling in order to fit. In fact, it’s too close to allow for redrilling (one would just widen an existing hole without first filling it). Two screws will go in at a slight angle.

Also, neither the matte black or the gloss black is an exact match for the Affinity Squier. The glossy pickguard had too few holes for mounting to the body. The matte gaurd had two extra holes near the the stock lipstick pickup (closer to the neck) that are not required by the Squier to mount the pickup as is the case in other models.
